The Baltimore Orioles sent Austin Voth to the mound in this afternoon’s series finale in Seattle. Voth once again acted as an opener, but not with the same success as in the past. Now while Both gave up three runs, only one of them was earned. Voth’s line: 3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R (1 earned), 1 BB, 2 K.
Seattle took a 3-0 lead in the last of the second. Haggerty pushed a bunt up the third base line, against the Orioles’ shift. Second baseman Jonathan Arauz’s throwing error allowed a run to score. It also allowed a second rubber into scoring position, and that run scored on Crawford’s single later in the inning. Rodriguez would plate another run (this one earned) on a sac fly-RBI.
The O’s would attempt a comeback starting in the fourth with Ryan Mountcastle’s RBI-double. However Seattle would plate six runs in the last of the fourth. Which ended the competitive part of this afternoon’s game.
Trey Mancini would plate two runs in the fifth on a two-RBI double. And the O’s fell in the series finale with Seattle, 9-3. However even in a losing effort, the Oriole pen was solid in the second half of the game. Seattle didn’t score after the fourth inning. A loss is a loss, but that means something.
